Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that is interested in the dental malocclusion, or anomalies in the relationship between maxilla and mandible, or simply incorrect positioning of the teeth in the arches "crooked teeth".
Orthodontic treatment can be performed in both children and adults: the first will be possible to achieve a harmonious development dento skeletal apparatus with removable appliances (orthopedic) that intercept any disturbances and directing growth in the best direction. You can then correct malocclusions such as the narrow mouth, the chin too elusive or conversely too pronounced and so be able to restore a profile and a more harmonious relationship between the arches. The visit to the orthodontist is recommended at around six years of age, to have the opportunity to intercept and correct any problems early. In adults, this interception is not possible because the development is now complete: the teeth may still be moved with the apparatus fixed to restore the proper relationship both from a dental point of view of aesthetics and functional .. Orthodontic therapy can be performed by means of removable appliances or fixed: they are composed of a series of "attacks" that are fixed to the teeth and some active components, "arcs" that anchored them allow the displacement of teeth.
